In this issue: Receiving attachments,
sending attachments
I love the written word, but sometimes a picture or a sound says more than a thousand words. That's one of the things I love about MSN TV e-mail it lets me send and receive audio and image attachments so I don't have to miss a thing.

Receiving attachments
So your friends have great pictures of their holiday party and they want to share them with you through e-mail. No problem! With MSN TV, you can receive images as e-mail attachments. Just make sure the sender creates the pictures as .jpgs or .gifs, as these are the two image formats MSN TV supports.
You can also receive audio files as e-mail attachments. When you do, you will see a speaker icon at the bottom of an e-mail message with the name of the file next to it. To listen to the file, just choose the speaker. Be sure the volume on your TV is turned up.
Now how about attachments created in Word, Excel, or other word processing or spreadsheet programs? You can access these too, as long as these files are saved as text only before they're sent to you.
If you get an error message when trying to open an attachment, it means it's in a format that MSN TV doesn't support. While you won't be able to access the attachment on your box, you can forward it to a PC and view or listen to it there.

Sending attachments
With MSN TV e-mail, you can include images and sounds in the messages you send. Let's take a look at image attachments first.
When you're writing e-mail, you can attach a picture from a TV show, a tape in your VCR, a video camera, an e-scanner with video output, or a digital camera with video output. To learn more about connecting devices such as a VCR or a video camera to your Internet terminal, choose this link
To attach a picture to an e-mail message, follow these steps:
- From your Mail list, choose Write.
- On the Write an e-mail message screen, choose Photo.
- A panel will appear showing what's on TV. If you want to get the picture from another device such as a VCR, video camera or e-scanner, choose the TV/Video switch and set it to Video.
- When you see the picture you want to attach, choose Freeze. If you choose Freeze again, it will unfreeze the picture and you can select another picture. This is helpful if you're capturing a picture from a moving source, such as a TV show or video camera. (If you're using an e-scanner, skip this step.)
- When you're happy with the picture you've captured, choose Add to Message. The picture will be attached to the bottom of the message you're writing.
Creating and sending audio attachments is just as easy. You can record sound clips from a TV show, tape in your VCR, microphone or video camera. To add a sound attachment to an e-mail message, follow these steps:
- From your Mail list, choose Write.
- On the Write an e-mail message screen, choose Recording.
- A panel will appear on the lower part of the screen. Along the bottom, you'll see three buttons: Play, Stop and Record.
- Choose Record. You can record for up to 30 seconds. If your recording is less than 30 seconds, choose Stop when you're done. To erase the recording and start over with a new one, choose Record again. To hear the sound you've recorded, choose Play.
- When you're happy with your sound clip, choose Add to Message. Your recording will appear as an attachment on the bottom of the message you're writing.
